Impact of Urdu Language on Local Dialects of Bihar: Social Implications
The JAISS organized a national seminar on “Impact of Urdu language on local dialects of Bihar: Social implications”, at D.S. College Katihar, Bihar. The Seminar was followed by a Mushaira. Vice-Chancellor of B.N. Mandal University, Prof. Mishra inaugurated the Seminar. The Principal of B.S. College chaired the inaugural session and Prof. Ajay Patnaik delivered the welcome address. The keynote speech was given by Prof. Haidari. Prof. S.N. Malakar, who was instrumental in organizing the Seminar in Katihar, introduced to the audience the aims and objectives of JAISS. Com. Vineet Tiwari gave the vote of thanks. Dr. Biswanath Thakur and Ms. Rahilla Parvin also actively participated in the organization of the Seminar on behalf of the Institute.
There were 21 papers presented in the Seminar that included themes related to impact of Urdu on Magahi, Maithili, Angika, Bhojpuri, Nagpuria, Hindi, and also papers on impact of Urdu on Telugu, English, and Kabir’s Saqi. The Seminar was financially supported by the National Council for the Promotion of Urdu Language, New Delhi.
