A Weeklong Workshop on National and International Experiences of Cooperatives in Agriculture
JAISS organized a weeklong workshop from 18 March to 23 March 2013 on experiences of cooperatives in agriculture of various countries. Delegates from China, Cuba, Venezuela, Nepal, Tanzania, South Africa, Spain, Thailand, Vietnam and India attended the workshop and made the deliberations. The key note address was given by noted economist Prof. Prabhat Patnaik. Prof. Utsa Patnaik, Shri S. P. Shukla, Dr. Sulbha Brahme, Prof. Ajay Patnaik, Prof. Subodh Malakar, Com. Sudhakar Reddy, Com. A. B. Bardhan, Com. D. Raja, Com. Amarjeet Kaur, Com. Prabodh Panda, Com. Atul Kumar Anjaan, Com. Kolli Nageshwar Rao, Com. Debabrata Biswas and many other senior leaders, activists and academicians participated in the workshop. Ambassadors of Venezuela and Vietnam also attended some sessions. First Secretary of Cuban Embassy and representative of South African High Commission also took time to participate in the sessions of their interest and convenience. This workshop got good appreciation in academic and political circles as a very necessary and timely exercise at the time when not only India but whole lot of peasantry in the third world is facing the challenge of very survival.
